George A. Arangio, MD - Emeritus

A graduate of Cornell University and Cornell
Medical School. He did his Orthopedic residency at the University of
Pennsylvania. He became board-certified by The American Board of Orthopedic
Surgery in 1975. While in college, he was an All-Ivy, All-East football player.
Dr. Arangio was raised in the Lehigh Valley. He is married and has four
children. His special interests include: foot and ankle problems, and orthopedic

enjoys gardening.

Barry I. Berger, MD

The first Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon in the Lehigh Valley. He is a graduate of George Washington School of Medicine, Washington, D.C. Dr. Berger completed his orthopedic surgery residency program at the Union Memorial Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland, Department of Orthopedic Surgery and a Pediatric Orthopedic Fellowship at the John Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland. His special interests include scoliosis, hip dysplasia, club feet, pediatric and adult trauma and limb deformity. He is married and in his leisure time, he enjoys golf and basketball.

Mitchell E. Cooper, MD
Sports Medicine, Arthroscopic Surgery, General Orthopedics
Dr. Cooper graduated Cum Laude from Tulane University in New Orleans, LA. He attended Temple University Medical School and graduated as a member of AOA, the Honor Medical Society. He completed his orthopaedic surgery training at the University of Illinois at Chicago where he was an assistant team physician for UIC athletics. Dr. Cooper then completed the Miami Sports Medicine Fellowship. During his fellowship, Dr. Cooper was the assistant team physician for the Miami Heat basketball team. Dr. Cooper has been the team physician for the Pennsylvania ValleyDawgs and Allentown Ambassadors. He is board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and a member of the American College of Sports Medicine and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. Dr. Cooper's interests include bicycling and ice hockey.

Thomas DiBenedetto, MD

Dr. DiBenedetto is a graduate of Harvard College where he achieved the Cum Laude award. He went to medical school at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and also was an orthopedic resident at the same institution. He is Board Certified. While in college, he was on the track and field team. He is married and has five children. During his time off, he enjoys hunting and fishing. His special interests include outpatient knee and shoulder surgery and upper extremity problems.

Amir H. Fayyazi, MD Orthopaedic Spine Surgeon
Dr. Fayyazi received his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering from John Hopkins University in Baltimore. He completed his medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. His residency training in Orthopaedic surgery was completed at Penn State University/Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and his fellowship in Spine Surgery at RUSH Medical Center in Chicago. He has most recently been an assistant professor at SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, NY. He has received his certification from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is an active member of multiple professional organizations including American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and North American Spine Society. He has extensive experience in treatment of traumatic spinal injuries, spinal deformity, and degenerative conditions of cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine, including the field of motion preservation. He is married and is a proud father of two young sons.

Dale Federico, MD Sports Medicine, Arthroscopic Surgery, General Orthopedics
He received his medical degree from Hahnemann University and did his orthopedic surgery residency at Yale University where he was a Clinical Instructor of Orthopedics for a year. Prior to his residency he completed a year of research in spine biomechanics at Yale. He completed his sports medicine fellowship at the University of Chicago. He joined the staff at the University of Chicago as an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery where he taught and lectured medical students, residents and fellows. In addition to his clinical duties he has written articles in professional journals and has lectured extensively in the area of sports medicine and orthopedics in this country and abroad. Dr. Federico is a fellowship-trained Sports Medicine Orthopedic Surgeon who specializes in arthroscopic joint surgery of the knee, foot/ankle and shoulder. He is Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery, a Diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners and a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery. Dr Federico is originally from Easton, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Krassen graduated from Ursinus College, Collegeville, PA. He attended Philadelphia college of Osteopathic Medicine, Philadelphia, PA. His residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation was completed at Mount Sinai Hospital, New York. He is board certified by The Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and American Osteopathic Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine and board certified subspecialist in Spinal Cord Injury Medicine. Dr. Krassen provides care for nonoperative and postoperative musculoskeletal and spine injuries including spinal epidural injections. Dr. Krassen is originally from Philadelphia, PA. He now resides with his wife and two children in Orefield, PA. His interests and hobbies include basketball, biking and the Eagles.

Dr. Stansbury is a graduate of the College at the University of California at Irvine, and the Hahnemann University. He was an orthopaedic resident at Hahnemann University Hospital. Before coming to Allentown, Dr. Stansbury completed a Sports Medicine fellowship and was on the faculty at the Hershey Medical Center of Penn State University. He has won academic awards and authored several scientific articles. He has raced bicycles for 20 years and won multiple elite championships. Dr. Stansbury is married and has three children.

Dr. Stapleton is a graduate of Rutgers University, he graduated as class valedictorian from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. He completed his internship and surgical residency at University Hospital/UMDNJ. In addition, he did an additional year of a fellowship in revision and reconstructive foot & ankle surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio under the direct supervision of Dr. Thomas Zgonis. During his fellowship, he maintained an active role in teaching students and residents and held an academic position as a clinical instructor within the Department of Orthopaedics. Dr. Stapleton is known for his work in reconstructive foot & ankle surgery including traumatic injuries and deformities, diabetic Charcot reconstruction and soft tissue coverage. He has written numerous articles and book chapters in the field of reconstructive foot and ankle surgery and is currently active in major clinical research projects and trials. He is married and has one child.

Dr. Walter attended Lock Haven University Sports Medicine and Athletic Training Program. He graduated from Pennsylvania College of Chiropractic in 1995. He completed his clinical work by volunteering at the Brotherhood Mission in Philadelphia. Dr. Walter studied with the Spine Research Institute of San Diego for specialized training in treating auto accident related injuries. Dr. Walter has obtained certification as a Chiropractic Sports Physician and is currently working on completing a diplomate in chiropractic rehabilitation. Dr. Walter was a member of Corporate Health of America providing advanced care to injured workers, FCE and IME evaluations. He is a member of the American Chiropractic Association and served the local district of the Pennsylvania Chiropractic Association. Dr. Walter has been serving the residents of the Lehigh Valley for the last 10 years. He is orginally from Lititz, PA. His interests include mountain bike racing, traveling and Philadelphia sports.

Dr. Weiss received his B.A. with High Honors from Rutgers University. He completed his medical school education at UMDNJ - Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. His residency training in orthopedic surgery was completed at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Weiss then continued with fellowship training at Thomas Jefferson University, specializing in Hand & Upper Extremity Surgery. Upon completion of his fellowship, he worked as the Director of Hand & Upper Extremity Surgery at North Shore University Hospital at Forest Hills in New York City. He has extensive experience in hand and microvascular surgery as well as complex wrist and elbow reconstruction. Dr. Weiss is originally from Philadelphia, PA and is pleased to now provide specialty orthopedic care to the Lehigh Valley Community.
