Joint Replacement
We perform joint replacements of hips, knees, and shoulders. This includes primary and revision procedures. Our experience in this field assures quality care. There is no need to travel to a distant metropolitan area to receive the most up-to-date surgery. At the Joint Replacement center, our fellowship trained surgeons offer the latest in minimal incision techniques for hip and knee replacement and accelerated rehabilitation protocols.

Sports Injuries
The sports injuries we treat include ligament sprains and tears, cartilage injuries, joint instability, pain, overuse injuries, and muscle weakness. The type of treatment includes exercise programs, physical therapy, open and arthroscopic surgery, injections, medication, and activity modification. The areas most often treated are the knee, shoulder, ankle, and elbow.

Hand and Wrist Problems
Our doctors treat carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger fingers, arthritis of the hand, wrist pain, contractures, nerve damage, sprains, and fracture problems.

Foot and Ankle Surgery
Services of our group include the treatment of bunions, hammer toes, heel pain, diabetic problems, foot ulcers, neuromas, and arthritis.

Shoulder Pain
We evaluate and treat bursitis, rotator cuff tears, frozen shoulders, arthritis, dislocations, impingement syndrome, and shoulder injuries.

Work Injuries
Our physicians care for a wide range of Orthopedic problems that occur at work due to both traumatic injuries and repetitive stress disorders. According to Pennsylvania law, a worker can seek care from any physician he wishes, beginning 30 days after the onset of the problem, and at that point is not restricted to the company doctor.

Fractures and Dislocations
We treat all fractures in the limbs and back. Our office is open Monday through Saturday to provide immediate care of fractures. This avoids long waits in the Emergency Room.

Arthritis Treatment
The most common types of arthritis are rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, gout, and post-traumatic arthritis. In the early stages, arthritis can be treated medically with drugs, physical therapy, braces, exercise, and restriction of activities. When arthritis is advanced, surgical treatment includes arthroscopic debridement (cleaning out of the joint), osteotomy (straightening the bone), and joint replacement.

Pediatric Orthopedics
A gratifying part of Orthopedics is treating children with bone and joint abnormalities. This includes club feet, hip dislocations, infections, and developmental bone diseases.

Over 50 Orthopedics
Many people between age 50 and 100 can be helped by Orthopedic treatment of painful joints. Replacement of arthritic hips, knees, and shoulders are routinely performed in order to dramatically reduce the pain. Other areas treated in the elderly include osteoporosis, tendon ruptures, ambulatory problems, and arthritis. The ability to shop, cook, drive, walk, and exercise can usually be maintained. When fractures occur in older people, they deserve to be treated as vigorously as in younger patients.

Orthopedic Clinical Research
VSAS has a full time clinical research staff dedicated to provide our patients with access to the latest technologies and interventions in orthopedic surgery. Current protocols include minimal incision hip and knee replacement, clinical outcome database of hip and knee replacements, the high flexion knee replacement, and accelerated rehabilitation in hip replacement surgery.
